Pastor Aaron Nitz and Family
A
little bit about our pastor
Pastor
Nitz was born on December 9, 1984 in Grand Rapids, MN.
When he was about 2 ½ his family moved to a small
town in Southeastern Wisconsin called Slades Corners.
In 1999 he enrolled at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown,
WI in a program to prepare him for future pastoral studies.
In 2003 he continued his education at Martin Luther College
(MLC) in New Ulm, MN. He received a B.A. degree from MLC
in 2007 with skills in Hebrew and Greek. That same year
he enrolled at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (WLS) in Mequon,
WI. He was a vicar (intern) at Living Word Lutheran Church,
Johnson City, TN from 2009-2010. In May 2011 he graduated
from WLS with a Master of Divinity after studying the
Bible in its original languages. Also in May 2011 he was
assigned to serve St. Marks Bemidji. In July 2011
he was ordained and installed as pastor here at St. Marks.
He
met his wife and the love of his life, Katie Myers, at
Martin Luther College where she was studying to be an
elementary school teacher. They first met in a freshman
English class where a teacher assigned both of them to
the same group ever since he has been a big fan
of group work. They were married in June 2007 and now
have three children: Megan, Jenna, and Lucas. He likes
football and enjoys cheering for the Minnesota Vikings
and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He also enjoys spending
time with his family, reading, gardening, fishing, fixing
things, and most importantly, telling people about their
Savior!
